Asbestos Management Plan
Asbestos regulations now include a duty to manage. The HSE state that under this duty, the duty holder is required to: "Prepare a plan that sets out in detail how the risks from these materials will be managed; Periodically review and monitor the plan and the arrangements to act on it so that the plan remains relevant and up-to-date;" Designing, monitoring and updating a long term asbestosmanagement plan can be a very oneroustask.
The designer must:
•decide whether to remove or treat any asbestos located.
•decide action priorities for each piece of asbestos
located.
•ensure that employees, contractors and other relevant
people will be made aware of the location of any asbestos that they might disturb.
